Squids solatulem

A classic Goan preparation which is usually done with pork but can be done with squids aswell. A delicious Goan style recipe made with onions,minimum spices and the star of the dish the kokum.


👉300gms squids

👉1 large sliced onion

👉1/2 tsp cumin seeds

👉2 to 3 cloves garlic

👉1/2 inch ginger

👉5 to 6 sola(kokum)

👉2 green chillies

👉3 to 4 dry red chillies

👉2 tbsp oil

👉salt to taste


👉Wash and clean the squids, cut it into rings or dice it ,season it with salt and keep it aside.

👉Crush the ginger, garlic and cumin seeds in a mortar and pestle.

👉Heat up a frying pan add in oil add in the crushed ginger garlic and cumin in the hot oil let it splatter then add in the seasoned squids, sliced onions ,slitted green chillies, red chillies ,salt to taste and sola,cook it for 10 minutes on slow fire.let it cook in its own juices.

👉Do not cook the squids for long as it will turn rubbery.

👉The delicious squids soulatulem is ready to serve.

👉Have it as appetizer or as a side dish.
