Quick Chicken Momos (Using Readymade Wrappers)

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • Minced chicken – 250 g

  • Onion – 1 medium, finely chopped

  • Garlic – 5–6 cloves, minced

  • Ginger – 1 inch piece, minced

  • Green chilies – 1 finely chopped (optional)

  • Spring onions – 2 tbsp, chopped

  • Soy sauce – 1 tsp

  • Black pepper – ½ tsp

  • Salt – to taste

  • Oil – 1 tbsp (adds juiciness)

  • Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp, chopped




For Wrapping:

  • Readymade momo/dumpling wrappers (round or square) – about 25 pieces

  • Water – for sealing edges


Instructions


1. Prepare the Filling


  1. In a large bowl, mix minced chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, chilies, spring onion, soy sauce, pepper, salt, oil, and coriander.

  2. Mix thoroughly (you can use your hands for even mixing).

  3. Let it rest for 10–15 minutes.


2. Fill the Momos


  1. Place one wrapper on your palm.

  2. Add 1 tbsp of filling in the center.

  3. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edge of the wrapper.

  4. Fold and seal — you can make:


    • Half-moon shape: fold in half and pinch edges.

    • Round pleated shape: pleat and twist top to seal.

  5. Repeat for all wrappers.

3. Steam the Momos

  1. Lightly grease the steamer tray or line with parchment paper.

  2. Arrange momos without overlapping.

  3. Steam for 10–12 minutes (until wrappers turn translucent and shiny).

  4. Remove and serve hot.

  • Classic momo chutney: tomato, red chili, garlic & vinegar sauce.

  • Or soy sauce + vinegar + chili oil mix.
