Dal palak is a simple lentil curry with spinach,Dal(in Hindi) means lentils and palak(in Hindi) means spinach,it is nothing but lentils cooked with spinach with some magical Indian spices. it is the combination of protein rich dal and fiber rich palak,this dish can be served with plain rice,chapati or roti,you can make this tasty dish in just three easy steps. Ingredients:
๐1 cup red split dal
๐100 gms baby spinach (palak)
๐1 tsp cumin seeds
๐1 tsp Garam masala
๐1/2 tsp red chilly powder
๐1/2 tsp turmeric powder
๐1 tsp coriander powder
๐1 1/2 โGinger
๐4 green chillies
๐2 medium onion
๐1 medium tomato
๐2 tbsp ghee
Method:
๐Wash the dal in a strainer under running water Heat up a pot 3 cups of water add in dal,salt and turmeric powder to it let it boil for 6 to 8 mins if you want you can make it mushy,when done keep it aside.(I have used red split dal as I like it you can use toor or moong dal whatever you prefer).
๐Take a pot on a medium heat add in ghee,chopped ginger,cumin seeds and slited green chillies give it a stir.Now add in finely chopped onions when translucent add in chopped tomatoes when slightly mushy add in red chilly powder,coriander powder,Garam masala saute it for 20 seconds.
๐Now add the boiled dal add some salt if too thick add in some water now give it a boil last add the baby spinach(you can add any spinach)cook it 2 mins and the dal palak is ready to eat.
๐Enjoy it with steamed rice,chapati or just like that like stew or a soup.
