goan sasav is a sweet and tangy coconut curry prepared in every house in goa. its especially made of small ripe sucking mangoes which is called ghotan in goan language Konkani.
I have wonderful memories of sasav....my neighbor had a mango tree(ghotan tree) and the branches used to come in our side so we used to get lot a mangoes from those branches and my house help used to make mango sasav..As I had pineapple pieces from the stores taught of making pineapple sasav and believe me it is as delicious as mango sasav.
Ingredients:
👉1 cup pineapple
👉1 cup coconut
👉1 tsp mustard seeds
👉4 red chillies
👉1/4 tsp turmeric powder
👉2 tbsp jagggery or according to your taste
👉1 tbsp oil
👉1/4 tsp asofetida
👉salt to Taste
Method:
👉In a blender grind coconut 1/2 tsp mustard seeds,turmeric and red chillies.grind it to a paste when ground remove it keep it aside.
👉Heat up pot on a medium heat add oil to that add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds let it splatter than add 1/4 tsp asofetida.
👉Add the cut pieces of pineapple combine it with the mustard and asofetida cook it for 5 mins.
👉Now add the ground paste to it, add 1/2 cup of water, add some salt ,stir it up cover it and cook it for 10 mins.
👉The pineapple curry in coconut(sasav)is ready.
👉Tastes delicious with steamed rice or just like that.
