Goan peas pulao

Simple. Fragrant. Comforting.

Goan-style Peas Pulao, just pure flavour from whole spices and sweet peas.

📝 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice (washed & soaked for 20–30 minutes)

  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

  • 2 medium onions finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 2 maggie cubes

  • 4 cloves

  • 1 small stick cinnamon

  • 4 green cardamoms

  • A small pinch of turmeric (optional, for light color)

  • Salt to taste

  • 4 cups water


🍳 Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pot

  2. Add the whole spices – cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, Let them crackle and release aroma.

  3. Add chopped onions and sauté on medium flame until soft and lightly golden.

  4. Add the frozen peas stir it well

  5. Drain the soaked rice and add it in. Gently stir to coat the rice with the spices and oil.

  6. Add salt and 4 cups of boiling water.

  7. Add the crushed maggie cubes.

  8. Bring it to a boil. Then cover with a lid, reduce heat to low, and cook for 10–12 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.

  9. Turn off the heat and let it rest covered for 5 minutes.

  10. Fluff gently with fork and it’s ready to serve.


🍽️ Best Served With:

  • Goan Sorpotel or any vindaloo

  • Any Goan curry like Xacuti or Cauliflower Sukke (if avoiding spicy dishes)
