Sungta bhende curry or Goan Prawn Okra Curry is a classical preparation made in almost all Goan homes. It is a spicy and tangy curry with coconut 🥥 and tastes best with a bowl of steaming hot rice.
Ingredients:
👉1/4 kg prawns(peeled,deveined,washed n seasoned with salt)
👉3/4 cup grated coconut
👉10 Lady fingers(chop into 2 inches )
👉1 large chopped onion
👉1 chopped tomato
👉1 tbsp coriander seeds
👉1 tsp cumin seeds
👉1/2 tsp turmeric powder
👉1 lime size tamrind ball
👉6 Kashmiri chillies
👉6 cloves of garlic
👉2 green chillies(slited)
👉3 to 4 Kokum(sola)
👉2 tbsp oil
👉Salt to taste
Method:
👉Grind together Kashmiri chillies garlic,turmeric,cumin,coriander seeds,coconut,tamrind with enough water to a fine paste,when done remove it in a bowl and put it aside.
👉In a pot heat up 2 tbsp oil,add in chopped onions when translucent add tomatoes when nicely mushy add the seasoned prawns stir in gently.
👉Add the ground paste, mix it altogether
Fry it for 2 mins and add a cup of water,Give it a boil for 5 mins,add salt to taste,Add in okra,Last add kokum simmer the curry for 5 mins,add in water if it is too thick.
👉When about to put off the gas slit in two green chillies
👉Serve hot with steamed rice
